MUMBAI: A three-day IT summit to be held here in February will focus on development of new technologies and mergers and acquisitions in this fast growing sector, said the organiser Wednesday. The annual summit, to be held Feb 8-10, will also discuss issues related to outsourcing and delivery models across the globe, according to the National Association of Software and Service Companies (Nasscom). President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam will deliver a keynote address at the Nasscom 2005: India Leadership Forum, said the statement issued by the premier IT industry umbrella group. In addition, leading chief information officers of international companies will share global best practices and their experience of operating in matured markets, it added. "India has, over the last decade, been able to create substantial recall and mind share as a global provider of technology services," said Kiran Karnik, president of Nasscom. "Nasscom 2005 will provide a platform to international chief information officers from countries that are important markets and potential partners for the Indian IT industry to share best practices with Indian vendors," he added. "The conference will also provide a perspective on innovation and new technological developments across the globe, and ways to maximize business impact of outsourcing." The summit will have sessions on globalisation strategies, best practices for outsourcing, evolving contours of global delivery model, mergers and acquisitions and opportunities for innovation in IT consulting. The event is expected to bring together over 1,200 delegates from India and abroad.
