'IT corridor will become a reality'

BANGALORE: State IT and Tourism Minister, D B Inamdar said that the IT corridor will become a reality and the IT corridor act will be passed soon. Numerous initiatives taken by the government has helped in the growth of BPO and IT services companies. B V Naidu, director, Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) said that software exports from the state for the first half of current fiscal was Rs 7,200 crore and is expected to touch Rs 16,000 crore before end March 2004. Total number of IT companies in the state is 1186. BPO sector employs 55,000 people, twice that in software services sector.
