IT and BPO to witness 10-12 percent salary hike
Hyderabad: Addressing the Global Captive Conclave 2011, Nasscom President Som Mittal stated that the year 2011-12 may witness a salary hike of 10-12 percent in IT and BPO sector. The present financial year is expected to see a growth of around 18.5 percent in the IT and BPO sectors. The improved situation of U.S. on health care and utility service is boasting up the IT and BPO sectors, and opening them to new opportunities. Since the U.S. Fed had also revised its growth projection from 2.9 per cent to 3.5 per cent the volume of transaction in BPO may also see an increase. Hence the financial year 2011, the IT-BPO industry's revenue will touch $75 billion. He further stated that decline in the attrition rate is another aspect to look upon. The attrition rate is down by 3 percent to 16 percent and expectations are there for it to come down even further. However he maintains that Minimum Alternate Tax (MAT) on Special Economic Zones still remains a worry and he is hopeful that it will be rolled back in parliament. And MAT should not be made applicable till 2014.
