Fremont: IT services is one of the most in demand and the top-paying sectors. According to a study by Gartner, the worldwide IT spending is forecasted to a total of $3.8 trillion in 2012, compared to the $3.7 trillion in 2010.

The study also states that IT services was the second highest expense zone, which saw a worldwide spending of $848 billion and is forecasted to reach $874 billion in 2012. But the IT services management is a huge task and is full of challenges. Here are the top IT services management challenges for 2012.

IT Cost Transparency

cost transparency, IT cost, expenses, technologyIT has always taken a sizeable chunk of every company’s expenses, and with the rapid changes in technology, it will continue to grab an even bigger chunk. The IT departments have of late been called the ‘Black boxes’, as it is tough for others to figure out the accounting and budgeting processes they go through to come to a particular cost. This had led to questioning the value proposition of IT. Thus, the IT firms should ensure more transparency while pricing the services. Transparency would not only help in the automated collection of the key cost driver data but also help in the allocation or cost modeling interface.

Many firms focus on key metrics measurement programs and BI communications without having adequate mechanisms, or without having a full view into the scope of technology for the business. This results in a false transparency which is more dangerous as it leads to inaccurate strategic decisions, which can be threatening to the firm. The cost transparency would help firms to be in control of their decisions and become a pro in their IT plans.
