ITC Infotech receives SA 8000:2008 certification

Bangalore: ITC Infotech, Bangalore, an IT services company and a fully owned subsidiary of ITC, has become the first Indian IT company to receive the social accountability (SA) 8000:2008 certification. SA 8000 is a certification process developed by Social Accountability International (SAI). This certification is widely accepted as the most viable and comprehensive international workplace management system. Sanjiv Puri, Managing Director, ITC Infotech, said, "This is another significant step in our journey towards excellence in sustainability and reflects our deep commitment to adopting global best practices at the workplace." SA 8000 is a standard based on international human rights norms and national labour laws to protect and empower personnel. It incorporates third-party monitoring for credible verification and has built-in management systems to minimize ethical sourcing risk, increase employee efficiency and enhance company's social performance record.
