ISA, STPI tie-up to promote start-ups

BANGALORE: Indian Semiconductor Association (ISA) and TiE (The Indus Entrepreneurs) Bangalore Chapter announced the promotion of Orchid Techscape, a facility conceptualized by STPI (Software Technology Parks of India) in support with the Karnataka government, which would focus on promoting start-ups in hi-tech domains and encourage semi-conductor design start-ups through Orchid Techscape. A rapid growth in design capability in the genre of semiconductors, this association has enabled ISA to step closer to its dream of promoting India as a semiconductor hub globally, accelerating semiconductor and electronics manufacturing in design start-ups activity to create successful product and technology companies out of India. ISA and STPI are working together to set up a compute farm in the new hub enabling virtual sharing of expensive hardware platforms among the start-ups. The ISA has also initiated to work with leading EDA companies to offer their tools, design methodology and productization support throughout the product development life cycle to the companies involved in the innovative business. Design house majors like Synopsys and Cadence have extended their support to the venture. Dr. Sridhar Mitta, President, TiE Bangalore Chapter, stated that the fusion of entrepreneurship and technology would aid India’s future economic growth by grooming young technology entrepreneurs with novel ideas, in the country. “Through its recently launched Entrepreneur Acceleration Program, TiE is committed to playing the role of a catalyst in promoting high technology start-ups,” he said.
