Bangalore: IIM Shillong has implemented modules from Oracle's PeopleSoft Campus Solutions and Oracle Applications with the help of Citagus India. The youngest entry in the list of Indian Institute of Management colleges, also known as Rajiv Gandhi Indian Institute of Management, IIM Shillong becomes the first among country's centrally funded technical institutions and universities, which include IITs and IIMs to complete implementation of a comprehensive ERP solution. The solution is a student system and alumni development solution for higher education.
This implementation has automated all backend processes for IIM Shillong. Time management, data accounting and the efficient management of human resources and staff-student feedback has been improved with this implementation.
"We have sought to reduce manual processes as much as possible, and provide access to real-time information for students and the college management and faculty. This will enable us to focus completely on education programs for our students and excel in quality and accessibility. It will put us at the forefront of the technology adoption initiative envisaged by the Govt. of India for higher educational institutions in the country," said Professor Ashoke Dutta, Director, IIM Shillong.
The full IT implementation project includes the deployment of PeopleSoft Campus Solutions, Human Capital Management, Financials and Supply Chain Management applications from Oracle. The benefits from the PeopleSoft Campus Solution modules for the faculty and management includes, complete calendar view of a teacher's classes, track midterm and final grades for each student, automate leave planning and related compensation for the entire workforce, plan and coordinate independent recruitment programs targeted to specific student populations, enable students to apply, track application status, accept or decline admission, and pay deposit fees online, display assignments on the web and state due dates, point assessment and weighting, and also report midterm, deficiency and final grades online
The students will be benefitted by features like viewing class and exam schedules, check enrollment appointments, enroll or change class enrollment, manage accounts for charges, payments and admission deposit, make online credit card and eCheck payments.
This implementation will also help IIM Shillong to manage relationships with alumni and other donors. It will help to create college fund raising strategies and programs, including target audience cultivation, contact reports, to-do lists, donor management, processing of contributions and communications tracking.
"Oracle software has a track record of being used in more than 800 campuses across more than 20 countries, and we are proud to partner with IIM Shillong in their mission to usher in a technology adoption revolution to help drive the enhancement of education standards in India," said David Redden, General Manager, Asia Pacific Education Sector, Oracle.
