WB to set up $ 55-million IT hub

KOLKATA: West Bengal government has decided to set up a dedicated IT hub, 'Sunrise city', on 40-acre land at Salt Lake at a cost of Rs 250 crore, Chief Minister Buddhadev Bhattacharjee said on Monday.
The Chief Minister told a meeting of the IT CEOs at the ongoing 'Infocom-2003' that the state government would provide land as equity and that the financial resources would be brought in by the private partner which was yet to be selected.
Already three international consultants -- Richard Ellis, Cushman and Wakefield and James Longland -- have responded to bid for the project, he said.
Work for the construction of the hub, which will have three towers, would start in early 2004 and the first tower is expected to be operational within a year, he said.
CEOs from companies like Oracle, IBM, ITC Infotech and PwC were present at the meeting with the Chief Minister.
