Bangalore: With New Year just around the corner, some of us are caught up with purchases to make, last minute ticket-bookings, and of course, new year resolutions: things we can think of to cheer up ourselves and others, or make us better people.

Those at IBM, however, give furiously optimistic techies a reason to rejoice: this year’s five in five; a set of predictions in economy, technology, and society, which in IBM’s perspective, are based on the trends that could very well change the future.

1. The law of conservation of energy manifesting - at home:

IBM predicts that within the next five years, you will see yourself as an energy-generating force.

Confused? Well, don’t be. Advances in renewable technology will help to conserve kinetic energy, and heat from any of the appliances you operate, to power up other appliances you might want to use.

Dynamos, anyone?
