Bangalore: IBM has reached an agreement with HealthSprint, a healthcare IT services company, to implement a paperless health insurance solution for its client Star Health & Allied Insurance Company. The solution supports the Government of Tamil Nadu's ongoing insurance project covering over 40 million beneficiaries, over 500 healthcare providers and 600 hospitals and banks. The solution is built on IBM System x servers, IBM Network Attached Storage N3300 modular disk storage system and IBM DB2 Workgroup V9.7 software. It also integrates with Star Health's core processing system for a faster turnaround time. For the first time, a comprehensive view of the system's status is available for better management and government monitoring. The solution deployed by HealthSprint handles each of the 40 million accounts, keeps balances, claims, taxes and payments up to date. It also traces disease profiles and verifies claims with biometric fingerprint cards issued to each family. The solution's benefits include centralized operations, reduced turn-around times and costs, better management and government monitoring through a comprehensive view of the system's status. Tracking the spread of diseases with this new understanding; enhancing the system to better meet citizen needs; viewing the entire system via dashboards to give financial managers real- time control over cash flow needs are other key benefits that were not possible before. P.Rammohan, Managing Director & Co-Founder, Health Sprint Networks said "the paperless health insurance solution running on IBM hardware and software creates a comprehensive and holistic view of patient data and allows Star Health to achieve a real time visibility into their operations." "The smarter approach to healthcare is one that uses information to create real insight into patient care and organizational performance. From our perspective, the single question that is most critical to the future of healthcare in this country - and the world - is the need for a fully integrated healthcare system. Our partnership with HealthSprint is part of our continued effort towards building a smarter healthcare system in India," said Pradeep Nair, Director, Software Group, IBM India/South Asia.
