New Delhi: IBM unveiled its next-generation IBM SmartCloud Enterprise to meet the growing demand of Indian businesses. Delivered through IBM's recently launched Asia Pacific Cloud Computing Data Centre in Singapore, the IBM SmartCloud Enterprise is an enterprise-class, secure cloud platform specifically created to help businesses take advantage of shared cloud services to drive efficiencies, manages costs and speed-to-market. The new IBM SmartCloud Enterprise is based on an Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) delivery model that offers rapid access to multi-tenant solutions scaled and priced based on usage. By expanding on IBM's existing Development and Test Cloud, the IBM SmartCloud Enterprise reduces application development tasks from days to minutes via automation and rapid provisioning, enabling business to achieve upwards of 30 percent cost savings versus traditional application environments. "Cloud computing allows companies to rethink IT and reinvent the way they do business. Our goal is to make CIOs feel comfortable harnessing these capabilities. The new IBM SmartCloud Enterprise aims to do just that by offering businesses the cost savings and scalability of a shared cloud environment with the enterprise class security and capabilities that our clients expect from IBM," said Akash Saxena, Vice President, Offerings Management & Development, Global Technology Services, IBM, and India/South Asia. According to Chris Morris Director of Cloud Services & Technologies, IDC Asia/Pacific, "IDC forecasts that the Indian public cloud market will exceed US$500 million in 2011 and with a CAGR of 23 percent, by 2015 will have exceeded US$2500 million. By this time, the Indian public cloud market will be 20 percent of the Asia Pacific (excluding Japan) total public cloud market." Additionally, customers can deploy their Lotus Domino applications to the IBM SmartCloud Enterprise via the Lotus Domino Utility Server for LotusLive. LotusLive provides integrated email, social business and third-party applications from the cloud. The new server licensing model extends customer deployment options for Domino applications from on-premises to cloud. With the immediate availability of the Domino Utility Server for LotusLive, clients today can now move applications to the IBM SmartCloud Enterprise and take advantage of fixed, predictable pricing and flexible deployment.
