Bangalore: IBM, TechM and Spanco have bagged the Bharti Airtel's call centre contracts for its African operations. This five-year contract is worth around $500 million, with IBM and Spanco sharing most of the spoils and the deal will be signed soon. "Our partnership with IBM, Tech Mahindra and Spanco is aimed at redefining and providing a seamless customer experience in all 16 countries. The BPO model has significant benefits for our customers, the countries in which we operate and their economies. Partnering with world class organizations on such a massive scale will galvanise the BPO sector in Africa and be a catalyst for growth in the sector," said Manoj Kohli, Chief Executive Officer, Bharti Airtel. Last month, Bharti Airtel took the first step to exporting its business model to Africa by awarding a $1.5-billion contract to IBM for managing its IT requirements across 16 countries in the continent. Tech Mahindra's Vice-Chairman, Vineet Nayyar said the deal would help Bharti scale quickly to manage its expected growth while adding that customers would receive first class service to global standards.
