IBM DB2 launches new DB2 agreements in India

Bangalore: IBM has announced new IBM DB2 client agreements in India for SAP implementations in the mid-market. Since its launch last year, around 100 enterprise customers have chosen IBM DB2 9 to run their SAP applications - including SAP itself. Hindustan Motors recently migrated to IBM DB2 and was able to lower the total cost of ownership with this migration and gained business benefits. "We have experienced multiple benefits from migrating to IBM DB2. User satisfaction has increased with almost 10 times improvement in the performance. IBM DB2 provides excellent reliability, security and scalability and has helped us reduce administrative and maintenance expenses," said Vijaya Krishna KS, Manager Information Systems, Hindustan Motors. Other clients that have chosen to run SAP applications on IBM DB2 9 include Intas Biopharmaceuticals, Sutlej Textiles and Industries and SKH Metals. "Indian enterprises are choosing IBM DB2 as their preferred database platform, for its SAP optimization which results in performance increases, cost savings and easier system administration," said V. IBM and SAP have partnered in providing Information Management to the industry, with joint development teams working on all product levels, integrating DB2 with SAP. Salient features of the IBM DB2 include Database Partitioning Feature (DPF) and Multi Dimensional Clustering (MDC). The common platform also includes a common maintenance and upgrade strategy along with one-stop service for DB2 and SAP installations.
