NEW DELHI: The second Asian Information Technology Ministers' summit will be held in Hyderabad on November 6 to create a framework for bridging the digital divide in the region. Altogether 23 countries will participate in the summit, which will focus on standardisation and IT development in Asia, digitisation of culture, construction of broadband network environment in Asia and internet affordability, management and security, official sources said. Australia, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Hong Kong, Israel, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Mauritius, Mongolia, Myanmar, Oman, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam are some of the countries which will participate in the meeting. The first such summit was held in Seoul last year. The summit is likely to issue a joint declaration and programme of action in the focus area. The member countries will seek to establish partnership to reduce the gap between the technology-enabled and technology deprived which can be spanned through joint efforts on a significant scale in Asia, they said.
