Hutchison consolidates mobile operations in India

MUMBAI: One of IndiaÂ’s largest mobile phone operators Hutchison today consolidated its various mobile interests in India under a single entity. The group that operates under the Hutch and Orange brands said it had obtained all regulatory approvals for the consolidation exercise. As part of the consolidation move, Hutchison Max Telecom will be the holding company of all the cellular operations of the Hutchison Essar Group, said an official statement issued here. Currently, the Hutchison Essar group of companies offers mobile phone services in different parts of the country under various independent firms. Group firms like Hutchison Essar Telecom has operations in Delhi, Fascel in Gujarat, Hutchison Telecom East in Kolkata and, Hutchison Essar South in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Chennai, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh west, and West Bengal. The consolidation is set to create one of the largest mobile operations in the country with a presence in 13 circles. The company said the consolidation would result in operating synergies, including more efficient management and a more effective use of resources and funds between the various operating companies.
