Hughes deploys CA's Unicenter

BANGALORE: Computer Associates International, Inc. (CA) today announced that Hughes Software Systems Limited (HSS), India's IT services company, has chosen CA's Unicenter Network & Systems Management solution to manage its entire network infrastructure and ensure optimum utilization of servers.
HSS selected CA's Unicenter solution for its ability to monitor performance and ensure availability of network and server infrastructure at all points of time across its offices in six cities including the BPO division at Delhi and Bangalore Development Center.
Another key factor that helped HSS select CA Solution was its ability to provide seamless integration of server management with the desktop management solution on the diverse platforms? This helped HSS monitor the status of all infrastructure elements
such as network devices, business applications and database systems.
"We required a solution that would not only tell us that systems were running but also that people could log on, enter data and search for data. In short, do something with the data. That's where Unicenter NSM really stepped in," Rajeev Seoni, Assistant VP and Head - IT at Hughes Software Systems, said.
"An enterprise like HSS operates with a variety of operating systems, servers, platforms, brands of desktop environment and a variety of tools. The deployment of CA solutions in a heterogeneous environment like HSS has worked well," Seoni added.
HSS relied on CA Unicenter Network & Systems Management software solution to maximize the productivity of its talented engineering and technical staff. CA's solution ensured that critical server, client desktops were up and running all the time. The solution allowed HSS to plan out future capacity and load balancing for proper allocation of work amongst the servers. This was done through continuous monitoring of the key servers statistics over various time intervals and comparing the performance/ load
across various servers, thus ensuring optimal utilization of server.
