Hughes Tele Q3 operating profit up by 133%

NEW DELHI: Hughes Tele (India) Ltd. (HTIL) has announced a 133 percent increase in its operating profit (excluding other income), which stood at Rs 1630 lakh during the quarter ended December 2002 as compared to Rs 700 lakh during the corresponding period in the previous year. The company said that its Telecom service revenues increased by 41 percent to Rs 9,460 lakh in quarter ended December 31, 2002 as compared to Rs 6730 lakh during the corresponding quarter in the previous year. The company has reported unaudited financial results for the current year's 3rd Quarter (Oct.-Dec.) ended December 31, 2002 (Q3) and also for the nine months ended December 31, 2002. For the nine months ended December 31, 2002, Telecom service revenues increased by 41 percent to Rs 25,890 lakh as compared to Rs 18,330 lakh during the corresponding nine months of the previous year. The company earned an operating profit (excluding Other income) of Rs 4,670 lakh for the nine months ended December 31, 2002 as compared to an operating profit of Rs 1,080 lakh during the corresponding nine months of the previous year. After the three-quarters ending December 31, 2002, the net loss was Rs 8,030 lakh.
