New Delhi: Chinese telecommunications network solutions provider Huawei Technologies has supplied optical networking gear to state-run BSNL to augment its bandwidth. Huawei has provided STM-64 (10Gbps) next generation product and solution to BSNL. A Huawei statement said that the company emerged as the first supplier of such products after undergoing lab and environmental testing by BSNL. PSU BSNL, on its part, is looking to augment its bandwidth across the 640,000 km optical fiber network spanning the country, with the help of Huawei's STM-64 SDH technology. It hopes that the deployment will enable it to meet the growing requirement of traffic by exploiting the existing resource. Huawei Telecommunications India Director Yu Yongbin said the product is one of the most innovative and advanced in the industry as it provides legacy TDM services and all types of IP and data services over an Automatically Switched Optical Network based multi-service platform. With this deal, Huawei has become the first recipient of such approval certificate for STM-64 SDH technology in India.
