How many times do you hand over your credit card to the waiter at the end of a delicious dinner at a good restaurant? The thought never enters our mind that this simple act can easily defraud us. So what if you have most of us have never made a purchase online, there are still several ways your credit card can be misused. These are only few incidents of scams that are discovered. Treat your cards like cash Keep your credit card safe in your wallets. Don't carry more than two credit or debit cards. Be extremely careful if you're shopping in a highly crowded place. Don't give credit card information You are authorized to give your credit card number and details related to the credit card, only when you call the number that is given on your card the customer service number. If you receive any call requesting you to give your credit card number don't give the details. Credit card thieves call as credit card issuers and other businesses to get your credit card number. When making online transactions be careful If you see any links from your bank credit card company, or other business that uses your personal information, don't click on any email links. These links are often phishing scams and through these links they get you into entering on their fake website. Only if you are sure that the website is a legitimate only enter your enter your credit card number. To be sure a website is secure, look for a lock in the lower right corner of your internet browser. Report lost or stolen credit cards immediately If you find your credit card missing the very next thing you got to do is to report it. The sooner you report a missing credit card the less likely it is that you'll have to pay for any fraudulent charges made on your credit card. Review your billing statements each month If you find any unauthorized charged on your credit card, that is first indicator of credit card fraud. If you notice a charge you didn't make, no matter how small, report the charge to your credit card issuer immediately. Your credit card issuer will tell you whether you should close your account to avoid credit card fraud.
