How satisfied are you with your PC maker?
Bangalore: Apple continues to lead in customer satisfaction for personal computers, although its rating slipped a point compared to previous year. While Apple came down with a score of 84, maintaining a 12 percent lead over Dell which remained unchanged at 75. The American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) has released customer satisfaction scores for a number of consumer product sectors including personal computers. The overall user satisfaction with personal computers rose after two years of decline, improving one percent to 75. The climb is largely because of improvements among windows-based machines. While Gateway (Acer) rose three percent to 74, the two brands of HP also improved. HP inched up one percent to 74 and Compaq reported the biggest improvement in year-to-year customer satisfaction, jumping six percent (74) to create a three-way tie with HP and Gateway. "The recession has shifted demand towards lower priced PCs and Hewlett-Packard is taking advantage by rolling out more of its less expensive Compaq models," said Professor Claes Fornell of University of Michigan and Head of ACSI. The ACSI is produced by University of Michigan's Ross School of Business in partnership with the American Society for Quality (ASQ) and CFI Group. It surveys 200 U.S. companies and government agencies in 44 industries and issues quarterly reports with new measures for different sectors of the economy.
