Bangalore: When Shakespeare once wrote “What’s in a name?” he meant what matters is what something is, not what it is called. When entrepreneurs want to name their company, they want it to be catchy, unique, and something that can be easily remembered. While naming the company, they have a particular logic to what would sound the best. Banagalore based online travel agency redBus was founded in 2006 by Phanindra Sama, Sudhakar Pasupunuri, and Charan Padmaraju. The site allows customers to book bus tickets online in a location-independent manner. “We wanted to start an online booking format for buses and ‘Red’ was the only color which has the least chances of being mis-spelt. Had the name been ‘Yellow’ there would have been a confusion on how many ‘L’ are there, or ‘Blue’ or even ‘Green’ for that matters, there would be high chances of the name being typed-in wrong.  Thus we chose the name ‘red’ and added the ‘Bus’ to it to make ‘redBus’,” says Phanindra Sama, Co-Founder and CEO, redBus.in.
