Houston Indian Americans hold Fundraiser for Jesse Jackson Jr.

Indian Americans gathered for a fund raiser to support Illinois' Democratic representative Jesse Jackson Jr.'s re-election campaign. A select number of Indian American physicians and businessmen from Houston and Victoria, Texas gathered at the home of Ash Shah who is a prominent entrepreneur. The invitation was subsequent to Jackson's meeting with Houston Physicians Harish Chandna and Dakshesh Parikh at the APPI (American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin) convention held in Chicago in June this year. Ash shah, in his introduction of Jackson spoke of dynamism, hard work and leadership. Jackson represents Illinois' 2nd congressional district and continues to serve the people of Southside and southeast suburbs of Chicago. Jackson advocated constitutional amendments that would allow all the Americans the right to vote, health care and high quality education. Jackson was very direct when he said that he was relying on their support. "I beg you to do for me for what I need to do for our community as well as our country. I want you to give as much as you can for my reelection effort." Said Jackson He also mentioned that if he lost, the perception would be that Obama has lost because he is his number one guy, the only one that he had endorsed.
