CHANDIGARH: Haryana will spend 10 million to promote the cultivation of medicinal plants and help farmers to market their produce to pharmaceutical companies. Haryana Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala Wednesday directed the state medicinal board to find ways to make the cultivation of medicinal plants more fruitful for farmers. A government spokesman said a comprehensive project worth 10 million had been drawn up for cultivating medicinal plants. Farmers have signed 50 agreements with pharmaceutical companies to provide them their requirements of medicinal plants, he said. The state horticulture department has already trained at least two farmers in each district in cultivating such plants. About 60 farmers in Yamunanagar district have already taken up such cultivation.
