Harbinger Group opens Center for E-Learning

BANGALORE:Harbinger Group, one of India's largest E-Learning technology company, today inaugurated its state-of-the-art "Center of Excellence in E-Learning Technology" in Pune. So far, the company has invested Rs 45 million in infrastructure, R&D, product development and working capital and plans to invest Rs 20 million more in the coming year. This state-of-the-art development center is spread over 8,000 square feet of space. The company plans to add equal more capacity to support the estimated growth in near future. The company also announced that it plans to hire 100 employees over next 12 months, taking headcount up about two times from current 110. The center would provide new and innovative products in e-Learning. The company would build Intellectual Property (IP) in this center through its product, "Elicitus" (totally developed in India) and through IP-driven services such as consulting and outsourcing. The services would cover technology areas such as collaborative learning, learning content management, content authoring, learning management, virtual classroomsetc. Inspired by the success of its subsidiary in USA at Redmond (Washington),Harbinger Group now plans to expand its network of resellers in Europe, Asia-pacific and other overseas markets. The Group also plans to sign up consortium relationships with players entrenched in various verticals. The company is growing at a rate of 15% quarter on quarter with global customers signing up for medium to long term contracts for software development, systems integration and content development. Customers include Bristol Myers Squibb, United Nations and Citibank. IP and IP-driven services are a major growth area for the company, and it plans to grow this to be a significant contributor to revenue. In India, the company has carved its niche in important verticals such as Information Technology, Telecom and BPO (I-flex, Infosys, L & T Infotech,Reliance Infocomm, Tata Tele Services etc),Banking, Finance and Insurance (ICICI Bank, Citibank, ICICI Prudential, Bajaj Allianz ), Pharma,Processes and Chemicals (Dr. Reddys, Abbott Labs, Astra Zeneca ,Reliance Industries), Automobiles and Engineering (Daimler Chrysler, Tata Motors etc.) and others.
