Hamdard Center bags $250,000 in fundraiser

Illinois: The Hamdard Center for Health and Human Services bagged $250,000 in a fundraiser held in its 18th annual gala at the Donald E. Stephens Rosemont Convention Center in New York. The event which was attended by more than 1000 people featured dignitaries like Bosnian Consul General Elden Kajevic and Pakistani Consul General Zaheer Pervaiz Khan. The event was one of the most successful as it managed to collect a big amount to cater with humanitarian purposes. The master of ceremonies, Ravi Baichwal of ABC News Channel gave the opening note which was followed by a speech from the chairman of Hamdard, Dr. Mohammad Hamid. He introduced the current year's new associate executive director, Kiran Siddiqui and also discussed the additional progress that Hamdard would be making such as negotiations for adding a new domestic violence shelter and expanding an after-school program for children between the ages of 6 and 12. Dr. Muhammad Saudye received the Farzana F. Hamid Community Service Award. It was also presented to Ravi Baichwal. The organizers observed that Hamdard have been so far successful in carrying out its mission to 'promote the physical and emotional health and psychological well-being of individuals and families by offering hope, help and healing.' The night ended with a live entertainment by Amjad Sabri, who is a renowned performer of Qawali and the son of Ghulam Fareed Sabri. Guests were entertained through his musical performance and they were astonished with his remarkable talent. His group consisted of six musicians, who played different instruments and joined the lead singer as back-up voices to support the musical evening.
