Hack Motorola Droid to enable Wi-Fi tethering
Bangalore: On the DroidForums, an online tutorial has been found which describes how to get Wi-Fi tethering functionality for the Motorola Droid smartphone. User on the forums has built and shared a custom image of Android 2.0.1 to enable it. Apparently, this forum was created with the help of Google's own Android Wi-Fi Tether project. The specialty is that the operation does not require special shell commands, and users can control it right through the phone's GUI (Graphical User Interface). Users don't have to do much, they just need to install a custom kernel along with a custom recovery image to get it working. Earlier hacks for the Droid only enabled tethered data use through a USB cable, and not the handset's Wi-Fi connection.
