HP opens Chennai center

Hewlett-Packard (HP) has announced that it has recently opened a state of the art facility in Chennai, which is located at the Olympia Technology Park, Guindy. A unique e-launch of the facility was announced at the Connect 2006, a three-day ICT event jointly organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the Tamil Nadu government. The approximately 300,000 square feet facility is HP's second center in Chennai, and is expected to accommodate around 3,000 people. Out of this, nearly 700 people have already been recruited, including 300 via campus selection. The company said this facility will add a new dimension to HP's global services delivery. HP prides itself on the deployment of highly skilled technical professionals, mature software processes, and world-class project management skills to deliver cutting-edge solutions to its global customers. The Chennai center will play an important role in contributing to HP India s overall growth strategy. The company is all set to tap the enormous talent pool the state of Tamil Nadu offers; and the delivery center will focus on key outsourcing engagements covering all aspects of IT and IT-enabled services including Application Services, BPO Services, ITO, amongst others. Announcing the launch, Som Mittal, president and chief executive officer, Hewlett-Packard Globalsoft, said that setting up an HP facility in Chennai is a confluence of synergy and purpose. Chennai is well known for its good infrastructure, best-in-class talent, and work ethos, and that the state houses some of the country s best educational institutions.
