Bangalore: Hewlett-Packard, a major player in the technology industry, has won a contract from NASA worth up to $2.5 billion. According to the contract extending up to 10 years, HP will provide and manage NASA's IT infrastructure. As per the contract, HP will specifically offer services to support NASA personnel in business, science, research, and computation. HP won the contract beating the longtime NASA contractor Lockheed Martin. The Agency Consolidated End-User Services (ACES) contract will develop a long-term outsourcing arrangement with the commercial sector to provide and manage most of NASA's personal computing hardware, agency-standard software, mobile information technology (IT) services, peripherals and accessories, associated end-user services, and supporting infrastructure. NASA had earlier awarded a seven year contract to HP in 2007 worth up to $5.6 billion to provide PCs, printers, and other hardware. HP has struck many big deals recent including one with SHI International, Europe's E.ON AG, BP and TOPS.
