HCL launches environment friendly laptops in India

New Delhi: Leading computer maker HCL Infosystems Ltd. announced the introduction of an entire range of its environment friendly laptops in India. These are not only eco-efficient but also comply with the RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) directive. "E-waste has been a subject of concern globally and nationally. HCL, as a socially responsible corporate citizen, has a comprehensive programme to ensure protection of environment, health and safety of all its stakeholders," George Paul, executive vice president of HCL Infosystems, said in a statement here. "As part of the programme, we had initiated voluntary compliance to RoHS directives for all our products," he added. The new laptops which start from 27,000 onwards are - HCL Leaptop Z and U Series based on Intel Core2 Duo processors, HCL Leaptop X and D Series based on Intel Centrino Duo technology, HCL Notebook K and P series based on Intel Pentium Dual Core and HCL Notebook S and L Series based on Intel Celeron processors. HCL Infosystems is a part of the $3.9 billion HCL Enterprise, and it has partnerships with leading global players like Intel, AMD, Toshiba, Bull, Ericsson, Cisco, Microsoft, Nokia, Apple, Computer Associates, Casio, Symantec and Konica Minolta among others.
