HCL Infosystems revenue rise, grows at 91%

BANGALORE: HCL Infosystems Ltd, today announced its un-audited results for the quarter ended December 31, 2004. The company has reported a consolidated revenue of Rs 1994.8 crores during the quarter ended December 31, 2004 as against Rs 1042.9 crores in the corresponding quarter of the previous year, a growth of 91%. Profit before tax is reported at Rs 81.7 crores as against Rs 50.5 crores in the corresponding quarter of the previous year, a growth of 62%. Revenue from the Computer Systems business is Rs 502.2 crores as against Rs 373.9 crores in the corresponding quarter of the previous year, a growth of 34%. Profit before interest and taxes is at Rs 39.2 crores as against Rs 31.0 crores in the corresponding quarter of the previous year, a growth of 26%. Revenue from the Office Automation and Telecommunication business is Rs 1482.6 crores as against Rs 664.4 crores in the corresponding quarter of the previous year, a growth of 123%. Revenue for the business continues to grow sequentially, a growth of 26% for the current quarter. Profit before interest and taxes is at Rs 38.8 crores as against Rs 19.3 crores in the corresponding quarter of the previous year, a growth of 101%. Consolidated EPS for the quarter is Rs 18.2 per share. The company has reported consolidated revenue of Rs 3574.3 crores during the half year ended December 31, 2004. Profit before tax is reported at Rs 137.0 crores. The Board of Directors has declared a second quarterly Interim dividend of Rs 7/- per share (70% on an equity share of par value of 10/- each). Announcing the results, Mr Ajai Chowdhry, Chairman and CEO, HCL Infosystems, said, "We feel encouraged by the results. It proves that we are on the right track by continuous focus on customer satisfaction and regular return to the shareholders. We will keep innovating and tailoring solutions for Indian conditions and markets. Our job – that of making the country IT enabled - is cut out for us; and we are going to concentrate our energies and talents on it". During the quarter, HCL Infosystems bagged orders for its Enterprise business from the various public sector companies including a Punjab State Education Department to install and maintain IT infrastructure in 1287 Government school. On the imaging and communications front, the company did well in its sale of Nokia phones. In the Imaging business, the company bagged prestigious orders from Bharti Infotel, Western Railways, United Nations Development Program and Indian Army. It also launched Toshiba LCD TV, to further enrich its bouquet of presentation solutions. In the Telecom area, the company bagged a big, first-of-its-kind order from Webel, for a telemedicine project in six locations in the North East, which will touch life of many common Indians in remote areas.
