Bangalore: Internet giant Google is reportedly planning to launch an unlimited subscription service for movies in the UK. According to a New York Post article, Google is planning a service similar to Netflix and Amazon's, and is in talks with Hollywood studios for months now. The search engine plans to launch the streaming service first in Europe, precisely in the UK and then plans to expand to the U.S. The report also claims that if Google decides to go ahead with this plan, it would put YouTube in competition with Amazon, which just acquired UK streaming movie service LoveFilm in January, along with Netflix, which is still eyeing a launch across the pond. Google is said to have allowed $100 million for content deals with studios and other premium content providers in its plan to expand its offerings. The Post also reported that Robert Kyncl, who jumped from Netflix, is heading the project. Google has been mulling ways to turn YouTube into an entertainment hub and to make money out of the online video-sharing website. By enabling users to watch movies and TV shows online and by making deals with the major studios will enable Google to make YouTube an ultimate source of entertainment as well as a money making organ.
