KOLKATA: Kolkata-based Globsyn Technologies on Tuesday announced it will undertake back-office data-processing and software support services for US-based Partsearch Technologies. The $50-million Partsearch Technologies handles the complete database management for leading US electronics retailer, Best Buy Inc. The Partsearch-Globsyn strategic BPO partnership comes at a time when Partsearch is poised to float an offshore subsidiary in Singapore to secure a toe-hold in the Asia-Pacific market. In this light, Partsearch’s chief technology officer (CTO), Constantine Gus Spathis, said: “We would like Globsyn to handle Partsearch’s back-office operations linked to its upcoming business development plans in the Asia-Pacific, starting with a potential Partsearch Technologies subsidiary in Singapore.” “Globsyn will be required to handle a gamut of data-processing functions and also develop customer relationship management (CRM) tools for Partsearch’s call-centre operation,” he added. Globsyn CEO Bikram Dasgupta said: “We are dedicating a 50-member team to handle all back-office data-processing work for Partsearch, especially for its proposed expansion plans into the Asia-Pacific. The Globsyn team will also develop CRM tools for Partsearch’s New York call-centre business.” Interestingly, Partsearch’s CTO said: “If Globsyn meets the US firm’s project deadlines and quality standards, it will consider a full-fledged joint venture in India with Globsyn.” But he was quick to stress, “a Partsearch-Globsyn joint venture is not under consideration in the immediate term.” Besides the partnership with Partsearch, Globsyn has formalised plans to set up a new 18-storeyed IT infrastructure complex, akin to the Infinity model in the Salt Lake Electronics Complex (Saltlec). Globsyn has been recently allotted a 1-acre plot by Webel. The proposed Globsyn IT infrastructure complex is likely to be christened Benchmark, although Globsyn is yet to finalise the commercials.
