BEIJING: The prestigious 2005 Fortune Global Forum to be held here next week will have a plenary session on India for the first time in its history to discuss India's emergence as an economic powerhouse, organizers said. "In the context of the theme of this year's conference, "China and the New Asian Century," it is only fitting to consider Asia's second great emerging economy," International Editor of Fortune, Robert Freidman said. "We have not had a plenary session specifically devoted to India at previous Global Forums, but the subject is long overdue," Freidman said ahead of the 2005 Fortune Global Forum to be held here from May 16 to 18. He noted that Chinese business leaders, as well as the heads of multinational companies, are paying increasing attention to India, especially as a result of its world-class IT industry. "We are hoping a dialogue on India, in the capital city of China, will help advance a better understanding between the two nations," Freidman said. The panel discussion on 'India: The Other Emerging Powerhouse' will be led by the CEO, President, and Managing Director, Infosys Technologies Ltd., Nandan Nilekani, CEO and President, Cognizant Technology Solutions Corp., Lakshmi Narayanan.
