Mumbai: India is the global hub for IT solutions and any global event that takes place now has to have a signature line of Indian software companies contributing to the technology. India is all set to leave its foot prints in the most talked about event that is coming up -The London Olympic Games 2012. Atos Origin (India),an international IT services company will play a lead role in delivering technology for the London Games 2012. Also Atos Origin contract with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) is the world's largest sports related IT contract till date. Atos Origin, IT Partner for the Olympic and Paralympic Games have announced to launch a Technology Lab at Canary Wharf that will put games under 200,000 hours of testing. The technology lab is a miniature version of 36 Olympic competition venues. The testing phase begins with the first pack of seven sports, including Athletics, Tennis, Basketball, Volleyball and Triathlon. Also Atos Origin India will be providing two new applications called myInfo+ and the Commentator Information System (CIS). The new internet application enables accredited media, sports officials and athletes to access information available to them. Competition schedules, medal ranking tables, transport news and sports records, will be available via their laptops with users able to tailor their homepage so that it highlights the countries that they want to follow during the Games. The CIS is used at venue broadcast sites where games results will be displayed on touch-screen PCs in less than 0.3 seconds providing broadcasters with the results before they hear the roar of the crowd. The new applications and a few other systems that are designed by Atos Origin India will be rigorously tested cross referenced with every sports body and association to ensure they comply with the latest rules and regulations. Milind Kamat, CEO of India Atos Origin, said the country's importance in making the Games a success needs to be highlighted. "Despite being on the other side of the world, India's importance to making the London 2012 Games a success should not be underestimated. It is in a large part down to the hard work and dedication of our employees here in India that Atos Origin is able to deliver IT solutions that will make London 2012 Games to remember," he said. London 2012 chairman and former Olympic middle distance champion, Sebastian Coe, welcomed the technology application. "When an athlete crosses the line in an Olympic or Paralympic Games, they don't want to wait to see their time flash up on the screen, they want to see it straight away. Similarly commentators and those viewing at home want to see the result instantaneously.
