Gecis to invest Rs750 M, up headcount

JAIPUR: BPO firm Gecis Global today announced the setting up of a new 1200-seater facility here with an investment of Rs 75 crore and said it will increase headcount at the center to 1500 people by early next year. ''The new center, spread over three acres, will be ready by March 2006 and have a seat capacity for 1200 people,'' Gecis Global President and CEO Pramod Bhasin said here. Gecis Jaipur, which currently operates from an interim site at the Sitapur Industrial Area, currently employs 1,000 people, of which 600 were added in 2005. ''We plan to hire another 500 in the next 6 to 8 months, taking the total strength in Jaipur to 1500 employees by early next year,'' he said. Jaipur is the fastest growing site for Gecis Global, which has centers across India as well as in China, Hungary, Romania and Mexico. ''We are serving some major global clients in key industries from our Jaipur facility. Our strategy of moving our to smaller towns like Jaipur gives us access to talented workforce.'' He said a large part of hiring by Gecis was done from Jaipur, Ajmer, Udaipur and surrounding areas. Gecis Jaipur provides specialized services in areas like accounting, accounts receivables, order to cash cycle, customer service and technical support to both GE and non-GE customers in the U.S., UK and other European countries. The industries served include commercial banking, consumer banking, corporate financial services and computer manufacturing.
