GM India launches Chevrolet Aveo U-VA

Chennai: General Motors India, a wholly owned subsidiary of US-based auto major General Motors (GM), has launched its Chevrolet Aveo U-VA here. "The Aveo U-VA is a global product sold in Europe, North America and other parts of Asia Pacific. It has been re-engineered for India in order to meet the specific needs of local consumers as well as local driving conditions," said P. Balendran, GM India vice president. "To meet local preferences some parts of the vehicle were redesigned, such as improved ground clearance, suspension, air conditioning and full chrome headlamps were developed exclusively for India," he said. The Aveo U-VA shares a common platform with the Chevrolet Aveo, which was introduced in India last year. The two cars also share some mechanical components. As a hatchback, the Aveo U-VA provides space, different exterior and interior styling, with a sporty feel that makes it stand out in the premium hatchback segment. The model will go on sale at the Chevrolet retail outlets across India by next week, an official said.
