PETALUMA, CA: Gluon Networks, Inc., developer of next-generation converged switching for local service providers, today announced that Fred Fromm has been appointed to the position of President and CEO, and joins the Board of Directors. Fred replaces Shirish Patel, who was appointed by the Board to lead Gluon in the interim period during the search for a permanent President and CEO. Gluon has recently announced the general availability of its Converged Local Exchange (CLX) product, and is now scaling turn-key sales and delivery capabilities for the Incumbent Local Exchange market. "Managing high level transitions is never simple," noted Steve Krausz, General Partner at US Venture Partners. "Shirish Patel did a fine job of stepping in when we needed leadership and kept Gluon focused on product development during his interim appointment. The board has thanked him for his contributions and we are now very pleased to have Fred Fromm onboard as Gluon's CEO." Gluon Networks, founded in 1999, develops, manufactures and distributes next-generation converged Class 5 switching systems for local telecommunications service providers. Gluon Networks, headquartered in Petaluma, California, employs approximately 120 people.
