Fraudsters con job seekers through fake Wipro offer
By   siliconindia news bureau

Bangalore: A fraud mailer in the name of Wipro from the job portal Naukri.com has been doing the rounds trying to take advantage of job-seekers. In the last few days, many IT job aspirants received a mail claiming to be from Wipro, saying that the company has 45 job vacancies in its facilities in Delhi, Bangalore, Noida and Pune in the IT, production, electronics and administration departments. It also tells candidates to make a refundable deposit of Rs.5,850 in Axis bank account mentioned in the letter. The mail asks for resumes to be sent not to an official email id but to one on Gmail.

When people tried to contact him to know the details about the job, the person just demanded the money be deposited in the account before 2 pm that day, and kept repeating the interview schedule, reports The Times of India.

Wipro, on its part, has filed a complaint with the police. Pradeep Bahirwani, VP (talent acquisition), Wipro Technologies says, "Such fraud recruitment letters are an industrywide issue and many other IT companies have also noticed it. But, this is the first time we have seen it on an official letterhead with the logo."

In the past, it is noticed that such fraudsters many try to lure people from smaller cities.

Bahirwani says, "Such letters are mostly targeted at candidates in places like Kanpur, Lucknow and Nagpur, where the job demand is more and information is limited."

Wipro tried to trace the fraudsters. "When we asked for a meeting to discuss details about the job, the number is immediately disconnected or switched off," says Bahirwani. The company says it has been constantly cautioning applicants and students about such fraudsters. In the event someone has already paid money, the company suggested them to lodge a complaint at the nearest police station.

The company has also informed banks about the account numbers being used in the fraud. It has also asked recruitment channels such as leading job portals and staffing partners to sensitize applicants and students about these frauds.

2: Before making it public, company should have informed police official to raid on his residence as address is mentioned in the letter. Its really shocking to hear that bank is not supporting company to take further action.
