Ford India posts over four-fold jump in January sales

New Delhi: Car maker Ford India today reported its best ever monthly sales with an over four-fold increase in its January sales at 10,026 units as compared to the same month last year. The company sold 2,453 units in January 2010 and by reaching the 10,000-unit monthly sales milestone, Ford has surpassed its previous monthly record of 9,478, set in March 2010, the company said in a statement. Sales of compact car Figo also hit an all-time new monthly high, with more than 8,600 units sold in January, it said, adding it was also the best monthly sales performance for the Figo since its launch in March 2010. "We have begun 2011 with record-setting January sales. We have carried the momentum of last year's terrific performance into the new year by crossing the 10,000-unit sales mark," Ford India President and Managing Director Michael Boneham said.
