Food research institute to come up in Kerala

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A centrally funded food research institute, that will help promote agro and food processing units, will be set up in Kerala soon at a cost of 950 million ($22 million). "The institute will be set up at Konni in Pathanamthitta district and will be funded by the centre. The state government will contribute 100 acres of land for the institute," Chief minister Oommen Chandy told reporters here Wednesday. "The institute will function as the research arm for all the food processing centres that are coming up in Kerala," the chief minister said.
