First MeeGo based netbook coming from Fujitsu

Bangalore: Japanese computer hardware and IT services company Fujitsu has unveiled world's first MeeGo-based netbook called the LifeBook MH330. The netbook is available in Asian markets for a price of $380. In May 2010, the MeeGo open source Linux operating system was released for the first time for the netbooks. With Fujitsu's netbook, this is the first time that the OS will reach the end customers, pre-installed on a netbook. Although the OS version coming with the Fujitsu LifeBook MH330 is optimized with proper drivers, the OS can be downloaded from the MeeGo website and is compatible with any Intel Pine Trail-based netbook. However, installing MeeGo on a Windows 7 based netbook will result in losing the use of function keys. It will, nonetheless, boot and normally function. It is reported that Fujitsu is working toward installing MeeGo as an aftermarket upgrade for its netbooks that are now shipping with pre-installed Windows 7 Starter.
