Fabrication of Evidence by Police is being Justified by Legislator
A most shocking statement made by a Kerala Marxist legislator in a TV news
report today (please refer to Asianet News Bulletin evening Sept. 11, 2009)
was truly shocking and should be brought to the attention of international
community including human rights organizations. Answering a question by
the news anchor ( Asianet News) Mr P.Jayarajan a CPM legislator has
stated that it is a common practice within the Kerala Police System that if
the police is a not able to get the evidence or the weapon used for
committing murder, the police would go ahead and get a weapon made by a
blacksmith and produce it in the court as evidence. This MLA coolly
justified this practice saying that this is a common practice adapted for
practical convenience of the police-- to get the accused easily convicted
and sentenced. The concerned Central Government agency including the Home
Minister should take this statement seriously as it is a public statement
of the illegal, most cruel and inhuman crime habitually committed by the
law enforcement agency. It is the violation of the accused person's right
to justice, and it is making mockery of the judicial system. Silent cry of
thousands of people so convicted and sentenced on the basis of fabricated
evidence need to be heard by all those who are committed to "JUSTICE FOR
ALL".
I request the readers to take up this matter and bring it to the notice of the Prime Minister and the President of India.
