FDI norms may be simplified soon

NEW DELHI: The government today said it has constituted a Group of Ministers to study simplification of Foreign Direct Investment procedures and rationalization of caps in various sectors. The GoM, headed by Agriculture Union Minister Sharad Pawar, was constituted on December 1 following a proposal submitted to the Cabinet by the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, a commerce ministry official said. Members of the GoM include, Finance Minister P Chidambaram, Commerce Minister Kamal Nath and Communications & IT Minister Dayanidhi Maran, besides Minister of Mines Sisram Ola.
