The first consignment of GSM RBS from the factory will be sent to Bharti Tele-Ventures. The factory near here is Ericsson’s fourth GSM RBS facility globally and has enabled the company to expand its manufacturing level from AXE switches to base stations. The company's other three facilities are in Sweden, China and Brazil. "Local manufacturing enables sustained growth of Indian telecom industry and Ericsson is a pioneer in this industry," Communications Minister Dayanidhi Maran said. Campbell said, "the facility will help Indian operators in achieving quicker roll out of world class quality and with cost efficient solutions." The factory will manufacture more than 1,000 base stations per month with the capacity to scale up operations as per increase in demand.
