Enterasys Wireless Enhances its Portfolio

Bangalore: Enterasys, the network infrastructure and security division of Siemens Enterprise Communications, recently announced new 802.11n access points and automation features that redefine low cost/high functionality, enterprise-class wireless device called HiPath Wireless, this access points provide cost-effective, energy efficient and easily deployed 802.11n advance solutions. With the introduction of these new access points, Enterasys has enhanced its integrated wireless solution, enabling two network infrastructures to be managed and secured as a single entity, further simplifying network management and providing additional operational cost savings. Senior Analyst, Current Analysis, Paula Musich, said that the addition of the Enterasys WLAN portfolio with its existing wired policy and infrastructure management is unique to the market. Paula added that by allowing users to move from one WLAN to another and have their role-based policies move with them, Enterasys helps to lower operational costs. Automated policy management provides the superior user experience whether the user attaches through a wired or wireless connection, which reduces network management complexities and improves network security. By providing 802.11n capabilities for both distributed and standalone network deployments, the new intelligent access points enhance the WLAN component of the integrated wired/wireless network and align WLAN operations with enterprise needs. The company has lowered the cost of upgrading the WLAN to encompass all of the benefits of 802.11n while eliminating unnecessary switch and infrastructure replacement costs. The solution also reduces installation and start-up time by automatically discovering, configuring and optimizing the new access points. Enterasys customers can save $140,000 in maintenance fees over the life of the equipment compared to a competing 200 access point deployment.
