NEW DELHI: Emirates airline announced Tuesday that it would increase the number of flights between the Kerala city of Kochi and Dubai to five per week, up from the current three. "Under the new schedule, Emirates will fly non-stop between Dubai and Kochi everyday except Tuesdays and Thursdays," said a press statement issued by the Dubai-based airline. The new services will start from Saturday, it said, adding that Emirates would operate an Airbus A330-200 aircraft on the route with a three-cabin service offering -- 18 first class, 42 business class 183 economy class seats. "Emirates has received an excellent response from Kochi passengers since the start of the service four months back. This has led us to increase flights to Kerala," said Nabil Sultan, general manager (India and Nepal), of Emirates. "We will continue to develop our India network to support customer demand and provide our passengers with the services they require," he added. The airline said the new services would help meet the "strong demand" of passengers, including tourists and business traffic such as skilled professionals like nurses, technology experts and students, for more seats. Emirates currently flies to five destinations in India -- Kochi, New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Hyderabad. With the launch of the additional Kochi-Dubai services, the total number of Emirates flights from India to Dubai will be 42 every week.
