Emirates' cargo wing voted top air cargo carrier

New York: The cargo wing of Emirates Airlines has bagged the top honors at the 2010 IFW Awards. Emirates SkyCargo has been named Air Cargo Carrier of the Year, beating competition from five other carriers including British Airways, Lufthansa and American Airlines. The award is voted for by the readers of the online cargo journal International Freighting Weekly. SkyCargo has won the award for the fifth time this year. Earlier the cargo carrier has bagged the prize in 2008, 2006, 2005 and 2004. Ram Menen, Emirates' Divisional Senior Vice President Cargo said, "To win this prestigious award for a fifth time is a great honor and a powerful endorsement of our service." Emirates SkyCargo is increasing its network of destinations across the world, and has added its services to Almaty, Bagram (Afghanistan) and Sao Paulo recently. The carrier's network now stands at 108 cities in 65 countries, comprising 25 dedicated freighter destinations and 98 points served by aircraft with belly-hold cargo capacity.
