New Delhi: The Andhra Pollution Control Board has imposed a penalty of 23.3 million (23,262,000) on the Patancheru Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) in Medak district of Andhra Pradesh for contaminating water in the region. The fine was imposed after media reports on the high level of active pharmaceutical ingredients in the effluent of the CETP as it was not able to treat the waste water properly. The CETP has also been instructed not to accept any industrial waste water with total dissolvent solid greater than 5,000 mg per litre after Feb 1, Minister of State for Environment and Forests Namonarain Meena told the Lok Sabha Wednesday.
