Educomp adds 671 Schools in Q2 FY09

Bangalore: Educomp's ICT Division Edureach has added 671 government schools to their existing portfolio of 13792 schools under ICT implementation across India. Edureach has bagged contracts from Government of Assam, Rajasthan, Gujrat and Tripura and the combined order worth is over 77 crores. Edureach will reach out to additional three and half lakh students across these 671 schools. Rajasthan order is for providing Computer Education under BOO Model to 126 schools, under Assam order, Educomp will provide Computer Education and Computer Aided Education to 310 schools and maintenance of Equipment and deployment of Manpower in additional 60 schools. Also, Gujarat order is for providing Computer Aided Education in 135 schools and lastly Tripura order is for providing Computer Education and Computer Aided Education to 40 schools. Soumya Kanti, President, Edureach said, "At Edureach, we use technology innovatively to spread education across socio-economic strata and across geographical boundaries. We are pleased that students across these 671 schools will now have access to computers and computer-aided learning which will bring their learning on par with many of their more privileged city counterparts." With the current project, the total number of schools under ICT implementation by Educomp across India stands at 14463. ICT in education, especially computer-aided learning has overall had an extremely positive impact on raising learning standards as well as in reducing dropout rates among children in these schools across the country.
