New Delhi: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Friday said the government was taking all possible steps to counter rising food prices and added that he was confident India's economic growth would exceed 8 percent in the next fiscal.
"This year we hope to achieve 7.2-7.5 percent economic growth; next fiscal we expect to achieve 8 percent and year thereafter we expect to return to 9 percent growth rate," the prime minister said in the Lok Sabha while answering questions on galloping food inflation.
